KTI Ice water plants and cold water plants are used as the basis for cooling concrete. Since water is always used for the production of concrete, it must be cooled as deeply as possible. Our ice water plants supply mixed water with +0.5°C, cold water plants with +4°C.

Ice water plants and cold water plants
Aggregate cooling
KTI cold air plants are used for cooling gravel and coarser aggregates. Due to the large proportion of mass in the concrete, cooling is particularly effective here.
When little water can be used to mix concrete, as in the production of precast or specialty concretes, cooling the silos is often the biggest lever in lowering the fresh concrete temperature.
Industrial ice machines
KTI Ice plants are used when particularly high requirements are placed on the fresh concrete temperature. Part of the mixing water is replaced by slab ice or flake ice, which melts in the concrete mixer and extracts the heat from the concrete.
All KTI plate ice plants and flake ice plants are fully automated in combination with our ice storage and ice conveying system. Carefree working with ice is a matter of course.
Ice Storage Systems
Our ice storage systems serve, similar to a water tank, as a buffer storage for the ice produced by KTI ice plants. Equipped with a so-called rake system, the ice is automatically stored and discharged as needed.
If the mixer control system signals a demand, an automatic system is set in motion that automatically transports the ice from the plant to the concrete mixer. There, the ice is weighed and placed on the conveyor belt or directly into the mixer.
Accessories for concrete cooling solutions
KTI offers a wide range of accessories for all concrete cooling solutions. Our customers can choose different options and solutions from a wide portfolio.
We are happy to provide you with a complete solution and equip our products according to your needs.
Our solutions for concrete heating
Hot water systems
The KTI SAUTER Hot water plants (HWS) are used in the production of concrete in winter. They heat the addition water to 40 - 80 °C under winter conditions without any problems. In this way, a certain amount of cold recycling water can also be mixed with the heated water and the required fresh concrete temperature can still be achieved.
Aggregate heating
The KTI SAUTER Hot air plants (OLH) are used in a concrete plant to heat silos in winter. Aggregates such as gravel and sand are circulated in the silo with hot air of up to 150 °C and heated until the desired temperature is reached.
Our hot air systems generate exhaust-free air that flows through the silo.
Turbo / Booster
The KTI SAUTER TURBO is used when high outputs are required for tempering concrete. The TURBO generates hot water as well as hot air with only one burner. It reaches water temperatures of 85 °C and air temperatures of 250 °C.
To heat the silos, the hot combustion gas-air mixture is sent directly through the aggregates.
Accessories for concrete heating solutions
The KTI SAUTER systems can be equipped with a wide range of helpful options and accessories. This allows our customers to configure an individual solution.

Our combined solutions for concrete heating and cooling
CombiWater
The KTI SAUTER CombiWater is a heat pump specifically designed to meet the needs of concrete producers with medium production volumes.
With the CombiWater, KTI launches the first system for 100% emission-free heating of mixing water, which can cool down fresh water to <+1°C in summer.
CombiMaster
The KTI SAUTER CombiMaster combines 4 essential functions in one device. With the CombiMaster you can heat the concrete in winter and cool it in summer.
The CombiMaster is equipped with a SAUTER hot water system, SAUTER silo heating and a combined cold water and silo cooling system.
Silo cooling with cold water production
KTI also offers a combination of different units in one unit. For example, a unit for silo cooling can be combined with a unit for cooling fresh water.
If the cooling capacity is needed to cool the silos during production, a water tank serves as a reservoir. If concrete production is suspended, the plant produces cold water with the available cooling capacity and fills the water tank.
In this way, our customers save on purchasing and operations.
